The treatment of stiffness, muscle weakness and pain in the body especially by rubbing and moving the sore parts is termed as physiotherapy .When our body or a part of our body is not able to function properly as a result of the disease physiotherapy is adopted .A person who treats people using physiotherapy is called a physiotherapist. A physiotherapist treats cases such as fracture, dislocation , amputation ,deformities born or acquired , nerve injuries , cerebral , heart and chest conditions , gynaecological cases, muscular disease/wound , burns , plastic surgery etc.
PHYSIOTHERAPY COURSES
The courses available in physiotherapy are three and a half years , three years , two and a half years , two years Degree/Diploma courses in physiotherapy/occupational therapy.
ELIGIBILITY
Generally the eligibility is 10+2 or equivalent with science.
CAREER IN PHYSIOTHERAPY
A physiotherapist can be employed in Orthopaedics departments of hospitals under the Central State Governments , Municipal Corporations and Private Bodies .Opportunities also exist in the institutes related to this field.Qualified personnel can open their clinics independentlyor in partnership to offer professional service.
