  Karnataka is a museum of through time. The state is in the southern part of the Indian Sub-Continent facing the Arabian Sea. The state lies in the temperate zone, and has a cool climate in winters and moderately hot summers. In Karnataka one will find peaceful valley of the nature to the busy cities of the future. This contrast is due to the geographical setting of the state, which are divided into three physical settings, namely – The Western Ghats, The Deccan Plateau and the Kavery Plains.
 
In the Coastal region is sandwiched between the Arabian sea and the Western Ghats. Here lies some of the worlds most amazing beaches, like Karwar, Udipi etc. To the mountain side is the tropical evergreen forest, filled with rich Flora and Fauna. Mountain Peak like Baba Bhudangiri, and tourist spots like Jog falls, Medikeri, Charmudi Ghats, KemmanGundi lie.

To the north of the state is the grandeur of the past. Many kingdoms setup there capitals in this region. Hampi, A World Heritage Site, is a showcase of Vijaynagar Empire lies in the district of Bellary. Historical places like Aihole, Patadkal and Badami also lie in this region. This region is blessed by the presence of the river TungaBhadra.


   The south is where the modern civilization sprung up. Initially the Gangas of Talakad, followed by rulers of Belur, and lastly the Wodeyars of mysore. Bangalore, the capital of the state is located in this region. Kavery often referred as the Ganges of the south has given the region self sufficiency. Places to visit are Bangalore, Mysore, Kavery river and its confluence at SriRangapatnam, B.R.hills and Bandipur wildlife sanctuary.

It has a culture of many people. In the north one will find the culture of hard working farmers, to west it will be that of fishermen and Ghat region, to the south it is multi cultural in cities like Bangalore. 
   Situated on a tableland where the Western and Eastern Ghat ranges converge into the Nilgiri hill complex, the state of Karnataka is confined roughly within 11.5 degree north and 18.5 degree north latitudes and 74 degree east and 78.5 degree east longitude. The state is bounded by Maharashtra and Goa states in the north and northwest; by the Arabian Sea in the west; by Kerala and Tamilnadu states in the south and by the state of Andhra Pradesh in the east. The state extends to about 750 km. from north to south and about 400 km from east to west, and covers an area of about 1,91,791 sq.km.

Karnataka is nature’s kaleidoscope due to its rich flora and fauna. It has an endless beauty full of adventure and amazing scenic beauty. Karnataka with all its richness in tradition and culture is also famous for silk, coffee, sandalwood, incense sticks etc. There are many places of historic and religious importance. Karnataka has all the nature’s magical green forests, cool seas, twinkling white waterfalls. Karnataka is wrapped with everything that can attract tourists very easily. It has got wonderful monuments, beautiful cities,  gardens, attractive art and architecture.

The famous museums in Karnataka are Keladi Museum, Folklore Museum, Janapada Loka, Hastha Shilpa Heritage Village, Shri Jayachamarajendra Art Gallery, Shashwati, Sculpture Gallery, Archaeological Gallery, Kavishila, Manjusha Museum etc. Karnataka’s wildlife is her priceless treasure .There are several forests and sanctuaries to visit and admire. Karnataka Wildlife Tourism

      Karnataka’s forests and wildlife are her priceless natural heritage. The State boasts some of the largest jungle tracts south of the Vindhyas. From the majestic evergreen forests of the Western Ghats to the scrub jungles of the plains, a wide variety of habitats teem with diverse flora and fauna, some of them endemic to the region.

Some of these jungles were the private preserves of former rulers. Thanks to their protection, these jungles have survived. However, some of the lesser-known ones are sanctuaries protected by the local populace
A unique blend of hill resort and wildlife sanctuary. The hills take their name from the ancient Ranganatha Swamy Temple that sits at the edge of a granite precipice with a drop of more than 1000 ft. into a dense forest. Find inner peace at the foot of the great champak tree (Dodda Sampige,) believed to be more than 2000 years old and worshipped by the Soligas, the tribals of that area. Don’t miss the coffee estates, the tribal hamlets and the Vivekananda Girijana Kalyana Kendra which displays preserved tribal information and the biodiversity of the region. There are many trekking trails here, including one that leads up to Honnamati, the highest point of the range
.

Flora and Fauna: The vegetation ranges from dry scrub jungle to evergreen forests and high-altitude shoal grassland habitat.


Mammals:
They include the elephant, tiger, leopard, wild dog, jungle cat, sloth bear, civet, mongoose, Malabar giant squirrel, porcupine, common langur, bonnet macaque, wild pig, gaur, sambar, spotted deer and the four-horned antelope.

Birds:
The Malabar whistling thrush, yellow throated bulbul, paradise flycatcher, racquet-tailed drongo and the crested hawk eagle are some of the birds found here.
There is also an amazing variety of exotic butterflies
